Will my council tax be affected if I use my home as a workshop?

Question:
Will my council tax be affected if I use my home as a workshop?
I am thinking of using my home as a workshop and wondered whether this would have any effect on the council tax payment?

Arthur Weller Replies:
Any part of a property that is wholly used for business purposes is subject to the business rate, with the council tax applying to the ‘dwelling’ part. Guidance is available at http://www.voa.gov.uk/corporate/CouncilTax/workingFromHome.html.
