A sole trader is the simplest way of operating a business with respect to tax; a partnership is another layer of complexity, albeit fairly minimal. 

What are they? 

A partnership (or ‘general’ partnership) is essentially the coming together of multiple parties carrying on a business together with a view to making a profit.
