Putting house in mother’s name: Is there a financial benefit to this?

What financial benefit could my sister gain from putting a second home in my mother’s name? 

Arthur Weller replies:  

Possibly any rent received from renting out the house would go to your mother. If your sister is a higher rate taxpayer, and your mother has all or part of her income tax personal allowances available, or she is a basic rate taxpayer, the family as a whole will pay less income tax on rental income from this second home.
