Can I transfer this allowance?

Question:
I get the state pension of £115 per week and my work pension, which I pay £25 per week tax on. My wife gets the minimum £60 per week and has no private pension. Can I transfer part of my marriage allowance onto her yearly allowance so I do not pay tax at all?

Arthur Weller replies:
I think what you mean to ask is can you use the unused part of your wife's income tax personal allowance, or her age related personal allowance? Unfortunately, unlike the married couple's allowance, the unused part of a personal allowance, or age related personal allowance, is not presently transferable between married couples.
