Can I claim costs for my van?

Question:

As a landlord, can I claim some costs for my van in the same way as if I were self-employed? I have eight properties to maintain. 

Arthur Weller replies: 

If you look at HMRC’s Property Income manual at PIM2220 it indicates that you can claim expenses. And if capital allowances are relevant, see PIM3010. You will have to take into account any non-business use of the van.
