Am I able to claim back stamp duty land tax (SDLT)?

Question:
After purchasing a property am I able to claim back the SDLT? If I am able to do so, would this be under my VAT account or my tax account?

Arthur Weller Replies:
SDLT is unfortunately not like VAT that can sometimes be reclaimed. If someone purchases UK property they pay the SDLT, and say ‘goodbye’ to the tax paid. It is part of the purchase price.
