How can I tackle the tax man’s demands?

The tax man has changed me this year from PAYE to SA and claimed me for £2.7K owed. He has taken me from a K code on my company pension back to 700L BR rate from September. I should therefore be due the high tax back April-August. He has put me on SA again because I had a bad tenant in 2008/9 who had to be evicted with legal implications and loss of rent. I have for the last year been claiming retro losses for 2008/9 of £3.5K in that tax year. I am at my wits end due to his demands. How can i tackle this as the interest is being added?

Arthur Weller Replies:
I would ring up the Inspector and say to him that you don't understand what is going on, and please could he write to you straight away explaining the situation fully in an uncomplicated way, together with a complete calculation of all the tax that is supposed to be paid, and all the tax that is supposed to be repaid. If you can understand the letter then OK, if not ring him up and ask him to explain it to you.
